Most likely be an issue with the Shift Interlock that sits right under the shifter. If you are positive that the gear shifter is not stuck in park see directly above then its likely that the shift linkage may be bad. Differential X-case oil help.

Try boosting the truck and not the battery. If the truck is locked in park then the chances are that one of these systems is not functioning. Have someone check the brake lights to make sure they are working correctly.
